"I want deliberately to encourage this mighty longing after God. The lack of it has brought us to our present low estate. The stiff and wooden quality about our religious lives is a result of our lack of holy desire. Complacency is a deadly foe of all spiritual growth. Acute desire must be present or there will be no manifestation of Christ to His people. He waits to be wanted. Too bad that with many of us, He waits so long, so very long, in vain.
Every age has its own characteristics. Right now, we are in an age of religious complexity. The simplicity which is in Christ is rarely found among us. In its stead are programs, methods, organizations and a world of nervous activities which occupy time and attention but can never satisfy the longing of the heart. The shallowness of our inner experience, the hollowness of our worship and that servile imitation of the world which marks our promotional methods all testify that we, in this day, know God only imperfectly, and the peace of God scarcely at all".

Pela's Best Harrison Ford
Pela is wearing her friend Sophie's pajamas last night(who am I kidding? they're jammies...). When she woke up, the top snap was undone, leaving the impression over Pela that she was extremely relaxed and comfortable with what she's got going in life right now.
So cool...
I didn't take a photo, but it's pretty much like this one.

pela's first film
she got her first taste of filming. She held the camera in her mouth. That's her style...
background voice is that of a woman who zealously found Pela adorable.
The last little number is our favorite street act. We don't know who the guy on the ground is. Folding chair break beat guy works ALONE!
Pela's doings
pela and we went walking on Saturday to check out the music on the plaza. We drifted as quickly near as away to a mellencamp cover band, and found a great jazz quartet. The bass player was really good, and shown his funky face the whole time. It was as if he was singing whilst sucking on a tart lime and chewing on a slo-poke. The arrangement was bass, drums, trumpet/flugel and baritone sax. Pretty fantastic. Pela especially liked the bass solo.

father's day
Today was a fine first father's day. The girls brought me a cup of coffee in bed, with a card and a gift that Pela wanted very much to eat. The three of us went to MBT and then chilled at home and out again for some tea. Pela and I then had our first hike in the rain. We went for a frozen pizza, and we learned that is an ideal item to purchase for trekking in the rain. Photos depict such said events.

That's some good water!
A day at the park...
Friday, Gregory took the day off from work and we spent some of it at a great park here in KC. Pela had her first splash park experience, which was definitely less than thrilling. Then again, a giant bird spraying water from the mouth is enough to scare anyone. She thoroughly enjoyed the swing, however, and spent lots of time just hanging in the grass. We were also fortunate enough to witness a hawk tearing apart a small animal under a tree only several yards from us. The weather was perfect, and we were happy to have the opportunity to enjoy it.
