fox bite

Read ahead for this account of a fox attack in our old home town.  Crazy business.  Our friend Dave is the second person to receive rabies vaccinations in just over a year.  Winston-Salem has some mean animals... Aunt Kizze was attacked by a rabid squirrel in the very same town.

Watch your back, abiders in the hills of NC...

scabies remain

this drawer is BJ's favorite place to sit and flick scabs.  He's delicious.

Fear Uncertainty & Doubt

you could too!

yes, I am on a special diet.  You too can look this good and get paid for it!  I know it seems too good to be true, but for one low price of <40 hours a week, you too can have a figure like Gandhi!

Scab Update

BJ is doing better, and he is healing steadily.  The scabs are ending up less and less in our bed and our food.

why our neighbors hate us

We are into prairie restoration one weed at a time.  This is what our lawn would look like if it wasn't cut this year.  I did cut off the section holding the seed pods this morning.

a fair trade

Saturday, Sarah and I traded her beloved truck which had served her and us well.  We traded it to our neighbors in turn for an embroidery of a chocolate and pistachio torte.  It's really nice work.  Feel free to stop by and take a look.  Oh, it's not that far... what's 18 hours in a car to behold a 2D torte?

Sarah: on Vantage Point

"This movie is just a big excuse for a car chase".

She's right. Also, I believe it has one of the worst camera angles ever. It features a dying man in the foreground, his face turning toward the camera after final breath, and then from the background comes the clip clop of the heels of someone shooting as he runs past. Watch it. No, don't. If someone rents it, fast forward to the second to last scene and enjoy the brilliance. Can you force brilliance? Uh, no. But this scene is definitely forced. And that is brilliant.

yeah, the riff goes like,"meenaleemeenaleemeenaleeee"!

ah, family

feline scabies?

Yeah, so Beej now has been diagnosed with feline scabies.  Nasty.  So, do we have scabies on our bed?  On our table?  On our hands?  What's a little scabies between family?

He's been treated and Sarah is madly scrubbing everything in the home.  Poor Beej.

Anyone recognize these people?

foodsicles

I love opening up the freezer and seeing this sight.  I am also glad they are not for me to eat.  Today, for lunch, Pela enjoyed broccoli oatmeal.  Mmmm.

the emerging studio

This weekend was a relaxing one.  Pela and I are just about over being sick, and we just hung out around the neighborhood with Grandma.  In that time, I spent about 4 hours organizing a drawer of letterpress spacing.  I may have enough spacing for a while.  It was one of the best $10 we have spent.  Our neighbors gave us a desk which helps to free up the floor and the kitchen table where I have been working.  Yahoo~

music on the plaza

Yesterday, we walked around the plaza to check out the music and enjoy the beautiful weather.  We came upon the Retro Rangers.  The were pretty good.  Pela liked them and started to get down a little bit.

Peeps & Grandma Sharon

Happy the Hamster: The Invasion(it's Lucy...Happy is dead)

Grandma Sharon is visiting this weekend. She brought with her, Happy the hamster.  Owen loves Grandma for this, and cranes like a vulture over the cage and paws at the cage.

Then Pela got her chance to try and squeeeeeze the little animal...
