hittin the road

We are headed to Chicago for the weekend.  Pela is going to get her first taste of mass transit.  Please pray for my pops too, as he is going in for a little operation thursday.  Pray for success and swift recovery.  Fishing season is here after all...

life as usual

Not much to report today. This morning held a satisfying commute via the bicycle, as has been the trend this week, and hopefully the season. And on a similar note, we had a dude trying to ride a bike whilst very drunk, and he crashed at about .02 mph. The photo was taken a few minutes after he bailed. He stayed prone for about 20 minutes, napping, we supposed. Then a buddy of his walked up, sipped his fallen comrade's beer, spat it out and took his bike. We asked him if it was his friend or his bike, and he assured us both were accurate assessments of the situation. After a quick cruise back to the scene to put forth a rousing effort to get his friend off the ground, he rode off into the path of a police car. After a frisk and an explanation, he was off to enjoy his new bike and a fresh beer. It was just another day at the office under the overpass.

pela and the summer's "must have" shoes

Arrived today. Thanks Gramma Sharon

the latest snapshot from the workplace

tulips day two

She's getting quick with those hands.  The fragility of nature means little in the interest of basic science.  What's it feel like?  What's it taste like?  What happens when I crush it?  Why are the big people saying, "no, pela"?

time with ma

this is a great scene to come home to.  Pela and Sarah were just sitting in the grass, each enjoying spring's benefits.

first sink bath

She likes it!  Except, she's like, "dad, I'm naked here!"

taste of tulip

pela got her first mouthful of tulip yesterday.  Soft and red flowers are enticing.  Though, paper is pretty enticing for the mouth too, and her NASCAR keys that sound their way home with her.

owen's perch

Spring's here, the birds and squirrels are out, and the cats have assumed their posts.  This is Owen's favorite.

handfuls of grass

We have about two patches of non-crabgrass in our front yard.  We sat Pela down on them, and, well, she kinda wasn't sure what to think.  Then she got her fists around a handful of blades, and she found pleasure in pulling them; as if they were her father's beard or her mother's hair.

The Chicas

Pela & Sarah have a good time.  Here, Pela thought it was funny to say, "front or back?" to Sarah.  Sarah said, "back".  And a swift backhand slap to the face was delivered.

You two...

the similarities...

Uncanny!

sittin' up real nice

ahh rhapsodizing by a fire...

one of our favorite treats is when Dr. Reneau treats us to a dissertation on the nature of beauty in earnest.  By fire light on a cold, late winter evening, his words simply come alive, and they do massage the soul to latent ponderings of this way and that.  One knows not beauty in earnest until one witnesses words of mounting value passing through teeth below a single lip lined with mustache hair; simply riveting...

okay now, really...

Is that a bicep or a forearm?

girl with hat

Pela will have plenty of shade this coming season, and a hat for every occasion.  This particular hat is for safari mode.  Or, it's for psychedelic safari mode, anyway.  Giraffes are so hot right now...  (right GS?)

lunch

Here's a couple shots from lunch today.  The three of us went to a noodle place near work; some fine grub it was.  Pela was practicing her new baby vulture sound effects.  It's quite convincing.

guess who got a jumper?

She likes it more than it appears in this photo.  Thanks Grandparents K.

Friday...

Indeed, it is fine and timely to have it be Friday.  Not that we have a choice if we work for the men.  Friday comes when it comes.  Sometimes it doesn't mean the same thing.  For instance, some times one has "Management Training" from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on a Saturday.  Oh, that I could glean some wisdom from a motivational speaker who lives in a van down by the river.  If it was actually from some one who lived in a van down by the river, I believe I could glean some wisdom.  Well, either way, I am going to have a better attitude than I am putting forth right now.
Let me try... y i  p   e    e e e e e e e ~

perfect.
