out of service
See you all in a week. I am headed to Costa Rica & El Salvador, and Sarah is traveling with Winston to Minnesota. We'll miss you.

So this weekend there was a neighborhood-wide garage sale. We scored some beautifil artifacts. Microphone stand for a buck, almost tacky/almost cool coffee sculpture, amazing rolling chair, etc. Winston got us the cute dog discount. I shall post an appropriate photo of Sarah's finds at a later date.

cleo
I first met Cleo while sitting outside Broadway Cafe with my friend Winston. She walked up with a summer skirt, worn sandals & toenails to match and a camoflauge muscle shirt with a backpack.
Cleo:
1. Was discouraged from studying buddhism from the Pope himself
2. speaks 53 languages, including ancient buddhist
3. has two boston terriers
4. has three boston terriers
5. wants to make a phone call, but her son froze her business and personal bank accounts
6. her son murdered his wife in cold blood
7. her son's wife was making dinner when he killed her in cold blood
8. Cleo did not tell him to murder his wife in cold blood
9. gave Winston the advice, "Take care of your master, and he will take care of you".
10. asked me if I come her often, and I replied, "pretty often".
11. replied to me, "well I haven't seen you last year or the year before".
I replied that Sarah and I had just moved to town.
She told me of many lawsuits she had won; one from the man who lost chunks of his leg to her two bostons, and the other from a neighbor, whose chihuahua mated with a boston in heat.
She never once mentioned why she had a bandage on her face.
I hope I see Cleo again.

Attack of the half-way belly
21 weeks and more to come. Wonderful roundness coming in to effect. I got kicked in the ear again last night...twice. And the little bugger liked The Slip the other night. We drove a couple hours to Columbia MO to eat rubbish greek food and listen to music. God willing I make it to 60, I hope to be listening to Brad Barr telling stories in song as if they were from my own head. Check them out NC. June 19th, 2007 Orange Peel, Asheville, NC. Those of you who aren't in the hospital having babies should go. "Experience the Fancy".

Parents Weekend
My folks from Chicagoland came down to Kansas City this past weekend. Once here, they learned all there is to do in KC is eat and walk around. So that's precisely what we did. The eating and walking was peppered with variety such as adoring the dog and cats, to sleeping.
It's been fun. Today they are discovering some more of KC. They will check out the Hallmark factory, the river market, and will round up for half price Tapas and sangria. Yahoo.
Next time they come, we'll be towing a new creature around with us to eat and walk and adore the animals. The little thing kicked me in the ear last night. What a joy.

things
Things as they are have been well in KC. Sarah's foot is feeling better. Work is mellowing, and summer is heating up. All of which are quite acceptable and increasingly beautiful. Music is coming along steadily, and hopefully will be salt to one's life tortilla chips soon; maybe some lime. Mostly, in random order, Sarah and I are digging our walks around the neighborhood with Winston and growing Kolsto, now at 10 inches in the belly.

Little dog, pregnant lady, broken toe...
Sarah likes to challenge herself.
First, she got with me, and that's a challenge. Then she agrees to bring a young hound into our life when she is 41/2 months pregnant. Then, whilst pregnant and getting used to the curious physical changes and odd discomforts that accompany such a state, she breaks her little toe.
Puffy and blue with scattered purple tones her little toe stands apart from the others. It's as if her other four toes are ignoring the fat kid who is always hanging around, not really contributing to anything in any real significance. Send some love and healing her way please.
