"I want deliberately to encourage this mighty longing after God. The lack of it has brought us to our present low estate. The stiff and wooden quality about our religious lives is a result of our lack of holy desire. Complacency is a deadly foe of all spiritual growth. Acute desire must be present or there will be no manifestation of Christ to His people. He waits to be wanted. Too bad that with many of us, He waits so long, so very long, in vain.

Every age has its own characteristics. Right now, we are in an age of religious complexity. The simplicity which is in Christ is rarely found among us. In its stead are programs, methods, organizations and a world of nervous activities which occupy time and attention but can never satisfy the longing of the heart. The shallowness of our inner experience, the hollowness of our worship and that servile imitation of the world which marks our promotional methods all testify that we, in this day, know God only imperfectly, and the peace of God scarcely at all".

Is this Pursuit of God or Knowledge of the Holy? Either way, awesome quote. Great reminder to battle complacency and always remember the simplicity/foundational truths of Christ/the Gospel! Wish we lived closer so we could discuss!

right on sister. It's from Pursuit of God. Blammo. Simplicity. So hard to communicate, and even harder to live. I like AZ. Good jobs out there? HEH! Anyway, love you cuz.

A small rant....I wish we as Christians would dig into the scriptures to figure out who God is. Mainly His name. We throw the 'name'-'God' around and in all actuality it means nothing, it's just a noun. Yahwah, or Jehovah is our 'Gods' name. Psalm 33:12a - Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD. That veerse to most all Chistians is great. but just change the last word to read like this; Blessed is the nation whose God is Yahwah/Jehovah. Sounds better to me.
Great quote from AZ, I mistakenly thought G was on his own rant...

I agree with TJ I thought that G was on his own rant:) Great quote though. Gratefulness and simplicity are hard to communicate in America. One contemplates moving to far off land...in the bush
