a fine saturday

It was a leisurely day in KC today.  It was in the high fifties, and felt real nice.  We took advantage of the weather and grabbed some grub near our home.  Pela has taken to walking quite nicely.  It's good to have shoes have a reason for being on a little one's feet.

As for me, I have been a bit ill.  It's nothing a little live music can't take care of.  So, I am going to play tonight at a nearby club.  We go on around 12:30, so I guess it's going to be a late night.  Luckily it is about 3 blocks away, and I am not a drummer.  In other words, I can be in bed within minutes of walking off the stage.  To make the set interesting, also on the bill is a band called David Hasselhoff On Acid.  We shall see...

I'd really like to come out and see you play... buuuuuut... well you know how cranky I get if I don't get at least 4 hours of sleep. Actually you really have no reason to know that other than that I just told you. If you make it to church tomorrow I will get you an extra cup.

the only thing you missed was me bumping knuckles over the monitors with an old, drunk and scruffy fellow. This same fellow I heard did a crazy 360 off his stool and disappeared into the night during the last tune. Ah, rock and roll.

So did you take them to Funkytown and back?

um, well, the heads of state music doesn't really lend itself to funkytown proper. It's more a strip mall in a bad location with a gas station called Little America. THe only time you are there is 2 a.m. and once you urinate, you have a distinct craving for hot chocolate. Then, perhaps you will listen to the proud night employee wax emotional on the history of Little America, and then she may become distracted in her own story to speak of the dwindling economy, or why she never went back to school. You will then become very uncomfortable and drive back home, forgetting entirely about funkytown until you are warm in bed.
