Revolutionary!!!
wow.
This fella has some interesting work. It successfully makes me uncomfortable on a very base level. It's kind of like not being able to trust the traditional themes of security, such as teddy bears, rainbows and fluffy clouds. Perhaps it's a lot like the jingly clown under the bed out to get you.
The recurring characters and tension throughout all these prints are great.

cappawha?
I was present at the Kansas Intl Film Festival today. We had a couple of Kansas City's finest baristas pulling shots and cappuccinos. I talked to some folks who came to see the Perfect Cappuccino film. It was fun to talk to folks who just learned something new. A fellow coffee freak who was featured in the film was there. He's a nice guy, and it was good to talk coffee with him. No pretense, just love.
When I arrived, I found this sign taped to the bar. I promptly took it down, but I did take a moment to savor the ignorance in all its glory. Dee.

kansas city late summer evenings
There's a quality art fair going on this weekend at the plaza. Sarah and I have already been inspired. We are going to try and go back again on Sunday.
Tomorrow, my work is hanging at the Kansas International Film Festival. We have a couple friends making some fine cappuccinos to support the Perfect Cappuccino. Should be interesting.
Hey Kent, next year, let's work some art fairs, eh? or perhaps start with unfairs? whichever...
shots o' papua new guinea
looking forward to bringing in a beautiful png coffee. Sample roasted it today, cupped it and pressed it twice. It was, if you will, velvety, flavor of ripe melon and a finish that brought to mind those tasty little wax colas one would find at a gas station. The finish is just like that. It's like you just ate some wax lips. Who doesn't want that?

Pebbles
nice local print
Sarah & I saw this print at a local coffee shop. If anyone would like to donate a proof press to me, please don't be shy. Anyway, cool stuff...

some grizzle of America
Monday night, Sarah and I went to see the Dark Knight with a couple friends. Showtimes were 7:oo(vip) and 8:00. I thought nothing of v.i.p., and we showed up at 7:00. There was no showing at 7:00 as far as we could see. So, we deliberated between what crappy films we could see in substitution. Finally, I asked the silly question to confirm my sanity a bit, "sooo, there's no 7pm showing, right"? The attendant said there was a showing in the v.i.p. room. That was it. So, we wondered a moment and walked over to the decadent looking, saloon type room marked, v.i.p. Turns out, one can pay a couple dollars extra and have a reclining chair(with footrest), beverages, food and no previews to augment the viewing experience. Pretty fantastic. We don't go see movies to be affordable, so, might as well pay for the pleasure of solitude. Monday night is a good night to check it out. Thumbs up.
the movie wasn't bad either. It was pretty intriguing to us 'til about half way, and then it lost something. Over all, a good waste of two hours. Bummer about Mr. Ledger on a variety of levels. He did a fine job innovating the Joker.

wash wash
A good reason to get up and brew
So, 4:30 Sunday morning came early. Papa K and I headed out to serve coffee to hundreds of spandex clad road bikers. It was a cool scene. The tour de Missouri is happening today, and a lot of bikers from the KC area show up. Anyhow, it was a fun, specialized event to work for. It sure beats the Cub Scout pancake breakfast, serving next to the juggler and the purple dragon mascot.
Sarah, Grandma and Pela came out to witness the fitness.

learning to groove
Pela's starting to feel the music these past couple days. Here's an example. Look for the groove shake about half way through.
And splashing is really fun too.
